Pauls Jonass entra a far parte del Kawasaki Racing Team
Il Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP è orgoglioso di dare il benvenuto a bordo a Pauls Jonass, che si unirà al team per competere nel FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship. Ex campione del mondo MX2, il talentuoso lettone sarà il compagno di squadra di Romain Febvre.
Per la prima volta nella sua lunga e vincente storia, il Kawasaki Racing Team schiererà due ex campioni del mondo nel 2025, poiché il campione del mondo MX2 del 2017 si unirà a Romain Febvre. Il ventisettenne Jonass ha già conquistato il suo primo titolo nazionale giovanile all’età di dieci anni ed è stato due volte campione del mondo junior e una volta campione europeo prima di unirsi al campionato del mondo per adulti dieci anni fa. Si è rapidamente affermato come uno dei favoriti nella serie mondiale MX2 con tre medaglie FIM, due d’argento e una d’oro, e undici vittorie GP in cinque anni prima di avanzare alla classe regina MXGP nel 2019.
Acclamato come il debuttante dell’anno con il sesto posto nella classifica finale della sua stagione d’esordio a bordo di una 450, il suo progresso è stato intaccato l’anno successivo quando è stato messo da parte per le costole e le vertebre rotte riportate in un incidente di prova, ma si è ripreso con una classifica tra i primi dieci nel 2021/22 prima che un infortunio alla coscia lo mettesse fuori gioco all’inizio della stagione 2023.
L’effervescente lettone è tornato in grande stile quest’anno, sfidando a viso aperto i piloti ufficiali, conquistando la prima vittoria in GP della sua carriera nella classe MXGP ad Agueda e mantenendo un solido quinto posto nella classifica mondiale prima di essere messo da parte per il resto della serie dopo aver subito una lussazione alla spalla e una frattura al braccio in un incidente iniziale al round tedesco di metà stagione. Un recupero di successo lo vede di nuovo in moto nelle prossime settimane per dargli un inverno completo per prendere confidenza con la Kawasaki KX450-SR prima del primo round della serie 2025 in Argentina il 2 e 3 marzo e tutti in Kawasaki non vedono l’ora di vederlo creare una sensazione verde lime, insieme a Romain Febvre, per tutta la stagione.

Ho lavorato con Antti in passato e vedo quanto bene gestisce il team, quindi sono felice di avere questa opportunità. Sarà la prima volta che lavorerò con un team ufficiale giapponese e, dopo aver visto quanto bene ha funzionato la moto negli ultimi due anni, è un sogno guidare la KX450-SR. Ora è il momento di mettersi al lavoro per ottenere i migliori risultati e speriamo di poter presto lottare per qualche vittoria”.

Pauls Jonass joins the Kawasaki Racing Team
The Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP is proud to welcome on board Pauls Jonass, who will join the team to compete in the FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship. A former MX2 world champion the talented Latvian will be the teammate of Romain Febvre.
For the first time in its long and successful history the Kawasaki Racing Team will line up two former World Champions in 2025 as the 2017 MX2 World Champion will join Romain Febvre. Twenty-seven year old Jonass already claimed his first national youth title at the age of ten and was a two-time World Junior and one-time European champion before joining the adult World Championship ten years ago. He quickly established himself as a front-runner in the MX2 world series with three FIM medals – two silver and one gold – and eleven GP victories in five years before advancing to the premier MXGP class in 2019.
Acclaimed as the rookie of the year with sixth in the final standings of his debut season aboard a 450 his progress was dented the following year as he was sidelined by broken ribs and vertebrae sustained in a practice crash, but he rebounded with top-ten rankings in 2021/22 before a thigh injury put him out of action early in the 2023 season.
The effervescent Latvian bounced back in style this year as he raced the factory riders head-on, taking the first GP victory of his career in the MXGP class at Agueda to hold a solid fifth place in the world standings before being sidelined for the remainder of the series after suffering a dislocated shoulder and broken arm in a start crash at the mid-season German round. A successful recuperation sees him back on a bike during the next few weeks to give him a full winter to become acquainted with the Kawasaki KX450-SR before the first round of the 2025 series in Argentina on March 2nd and 3rd and everyone at Kawasaki looks forward to seeing him create a lime-green sensation, together with Romain Febvre, throughout the entire season.

I have worked with Antti in the past and I see how well he runs the team so I’m delighted to be given this opportunity.
