VITTORIA IN MOTO GP E PODIO PER JEREMY SEEWER IN TURCHIA
Jeremy Seewer del Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP ha conquistato la sua prima vittoria in moto della stagione nel round turco del FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship ad Afyon; una corsa combattiva attraverso il gruppo in gara due gli ha anche fatto guadagnare il suo secondo podio dell’anno.
In gara uno lo svizzero è partito a tutta velocità dal cancelletto per ottenere il suo quinto holeshot della stagione e non è mai stato superato. Ha mantenuto la sua compostezza e concentrazione per avanzare inesorabilmente sempre di più con i giri più veloci della gara fino ad avere un vantaggio di quasi sette secondi a metà gara e quindi ha potuto controllare la gara fino al traguardo. La ruota anteriore si è sollevata momentaneamente dal cancelletto ed è stato chiuso dirigendosi verso la prima curva per essere inizialmente lasciato ai margini della top ten. Si era già assicurato il podio quando è avanzato all’ottavo posto al secondo giro, ma ha continuato a spingere per arrivare settimo all’undicesimo giro, sesto due giri dopo e ha mancato di poco il quinto posto in manche che lo avrebbe portato dalla P3 alla seconda posizione in classifica generale. Ora è quasi certo di concludere la stagione quarto nella serie; i primi tre non sono più matematicamente possibili, ma ha sessantasei punti di vantaggio sul quinto con solo 120 punti ancora disponibili.
Jeremy Seewer: “Con un inizio così la vita diventa sempre più facile. Mi sono sentito bene per tutto il weekend, ma oggi ho sorpreso anche me stesso; quei primi tre sono stati così veloci quest’anno, quindi batterli è stata un’impresa. Ho preso l’holeshot in gara uno e presto ho ottenuto un distacco, così ho potuto rilassarmi e giocare con la pista. Ho continuato a spingere per metà gara, poi sono riuscito a passare alla modalità crociera per controllare la gara. La mia guida è stata buona anche nella seconda gara, ma sono stato schiacciato dopo il cancello e ho dovuto superare il gruppo. Ho quasi raggiunto Glenn, il che mi avrebbe dato la P2 in classifica generale, ma il successo più importante di questo weekend è stata quella vittoria in manche; abbiamo lavorato per questo e il duro lavoro ha finalmente dato i suoi frutti”.
Romain Febvre ha avuto un inizio drammatico nella prima manche quando è stato schiacciato dai suoi vicini di cancello mentre uscivano a tutta velocità dal cancello; ha impigliato le barre con uno di loro ed è caduto in modo spettacolare nella corsa verso la prima curva. È tornato nella top ten dopo due giri, ma poi si è rivelato difficile avanzare ulteriormente nella classifica sulla pista ultraveloce a linea singola; alla fine è arrivato settimo all’ultimo giro. Il francese ha fatto una corsa pulita nel giro di apertura della seconda manche per mantenere un netto quarto posto per tutta la gara. È stato premiato con il quarto posto assoluto nella giornata ed è risalito al quinto posto nella classifica a punti della serie nonostante abbia perso cinque GP a metà estate.
Romain Febvre: “Alla partenza della prima manche un altro pilota mi ha colpito e sono caduto nel rettilineo di partenza; ero ultimo e sono risalito abbastanza bene con una buona velocità, ma su questa pista è così difficile sorpassare che ho perso tempo solo per tornare nella top-ten. Poi è stato più difficile, anche se i miei tempi sul giro sono stati solo un secondo più lenti dei leader anche quando ero dietro ad altri piloti. È un peccato perché ero sicuro che un buon risultato fosse possibile, e ho speso un sacco di energie in questa rimonta. Nella seconda manche la mia partenza è stata buona; sono stato subito quarto e sono riuscito a seguire i leader per i primi dieci minuti ma poi loro hanno preso il distacco.”

GP MOTO WIN AND PODIUM FOR JEREMY SEEWER IN TURKEY
Jeremy Seewer of Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP swept to his first moto win of the season in the Turkish round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at Afyon; a battling ride through the pack in race two also earned his second podium of the year.
In race one the Swiss powered out of the gate to take his fifth holeshot of the season and he was never headed. He maintained his composure and concentration to inch relentlessly ever further clear with the fastest laps of the race until he had a lead of nearly seven seconds by half-distance and could then control the race to the finish. The front wheel lifted momentarily out of the gate and he was closed down heading into turn one to be left on the edge of the top-ten initially. He had already secured the podium when he advanced to eighth on lap two but kept pushing to take seventh on lap eleven, sixth two laps later and narrowly missed the fifth placing in moto which would have lifted him from P3 to second overall. He is now almost certain to end the season fourth in the series; the top-three is no longer mathematically possible but he is sixty-six points clear of fifth with just 120 points still available.
Jeremy Seewer: “With a start like that it always makes life easier. I’ve been feeling good all weekend but I even surprised myself today; those top-three have been so fast this year so to beat them was an achievement. I took the holeshot in race one and soon got a gap so I could relax and play with the track. I kept pushing for half the race, then I could move into cruise mode to control the race. My riding was good in the second race too but I got squeezed after the gate and had to ride through the pack. I almost caught Glenn, which would have given me P2 overall, but the most important success this weekend was that moto win; We’ve been working for this and the hard work finally paid off.”
Romain Febvre had a dramatic start to the first moto when he was sandwiched by his gate-neighbours as they powered out of the gate; he tangled bars with one of them and crashed spectacularly on the run down to turn one. He was back into the top-ten within two laps but it then proved difficult to advance further up he leaderboard on the ultra-fast single-line track; he eventually moved into his final seventh on the last lap. The Frenchman had a clean run through the opening lap of moto two to hold a clear fourth throughout the race. He was rewarded with fourth overall on the day and has advanced back to fifth in the series points-standings despite missing five GPs mid-summer.
Romain Febvre: “At the start of the first race another rider hit me and I crashed in the start straight; I was dead-last and came back pretty well with a good speed, but on this track it’s so difficult to pass that I lost time just to come back in the top-ten. Then it was more difficult, even if my lap times were just one second slower than the leaders even while I was behind other riders. It’s a shame as I was sure that a good result was possible, and I used a lot of energy in this comeback. Second moto my start was good; I was immediately fourth and I was able to follow the leaders for the first ten minutes but then they made the gap.”
