Il Team GSM è diventato l’ultimo team ad annunciare la sua formazione di piloti della classe WSX per il FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) 2024, confermando il ritorno di Greg Aranda e l’arrivo di Lucas Imbert per la prossima stagione.

Con Aranda e Imbert, il GSM unirà la gioventù all’esperienza per formare una coppia di piloti molto entusiasmante che potrebbe emergere come nomi di spicco nel WSX nel 2024 dopo una promettente prestazione insieme nel French Elite Motocross Championship all’inizio di quest’anno.

Aranda si è unito al programma WSX del Team GSM nel 2023 ed è emerso come uno dei concorrenti più costanti del campionato come uno dei soli sei piloti 450cc ad assicurarsi piazzamenti nella top 10 generale in ogni round WSX la scorsa stagione.

Il miglior risultato del tre volte campione tedesco di Supercross del 2023 è arrivato al WSX Boost Mobile Australian GP, ​​che ha visto Aranda finire tra i primi cinque dopo essere andato 16-2-6 nel corso della serata. Aranda è stato anche il quarto più veloce in qualifica prima della gara serale.

Per la sua terza stagione in WSX, il francese spera di eguagliare i massimi della sua campagna di debutto, e di guidare il Team GSM verso nuove vette dopo aver assaporato un immenso successo in Europa.

Greg Aranda, pilota del Team GSM, ha affermato: “Sono entusiasta di tornare sulla griglia di partenza della WSX per il 2024. Dopo essersi unito alla squadra francese all’inizio del 2024, Lucas Imbert è già un volto familiare a tutti nel Team GSM, ma sarà un esordiente in WSX questa stagione quando farà il suo debutto nella serie il 26 ottobre al BC Place di Vancouver.

A 26 anni, Imbert ha già dimostrato il suo talento grezzo e la sua velocità su due ruote come vice-campione ADAC Supercross SX2 del 2022, piazzandosi anche al terzo posto nel campionato nazionale francese MX2 del 2021 e nella serie Supercross SX Tour SX2 francese del 2022.

Imbert entra in WSX dopo una prestazione incoraggiante nel campionato francese Elite Motocross nel 2024 dove, come compagno di squadra di Aranda e nonostante corresse part-time, è arrivato nono in classifica, ottenendo il miglior risultato di un quarto posto in Gara 2 a Ernée.

Lucas Imbert, pilota del Team GSM, ha dichiarato: “Entrare a far parte della WSX per il 2024 segna un grande passo avanti per me nella mia carriera e sarei ingenuo se dicessi che la mia stagione da esordiente non sarà priva di sfide. Ma sono pronto a dare tutto quello che ho e correre al fianco di Greg [Aranda] in un campo super competitivo mi darà l’opportunità di imparare, crescere e gareggiare contro alcuni dei più grandi e migliori nomi del Supercross. Il Team GSM mi ha supportato in modo incredibile da quando mi sono unito all’inizio di quest’anno e vorrei ringraziarli per avermi dato questa possibilità. Non vedo l’ora di mostrare cosa so fare quando inizieremo a correre a Vancouver”.

Dopo il GP canadese WSX del 26 ottobre, la stagione 2024 proseguirà il 23-24 novembre all’HBF Park di Perth per la doppia gara del GP australiano WSX. La stagione si concluderà all’Etihad Arena di Abu Dhabi il 4 dicembre.

Team GSM has become the latest squad to announce its WSX class rider lineup for the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), confirming the return of Greg Aranda and the arrival of Lucas Imbert for the coming season.

With Aranda and Imbert, GSM will pair youth with experience to form a highly exciting rider pairing which could emerge as breakout names in WSX in 2024 following a promising performance together in the French Elite Motocross Championship earlier this year.

Aranda joined Team GSM’s WSX program in 2023 and emerged as one of the championship’s most consistent competitors as one of only six 450cc riders to secure overall top 10 finishes in each WSX round last season.

The three-time German Supercross champion’s best result of 2023 came at the WSX Boost Mobile Australian GP, which saw Aranda finish inside the top five after going 16-2-6 over the course of the evening. Aranda was also the fourth fastest qualifier going into the evening’s racing.

For his third season in WSX, the Frenchman is hoping to match the highs of his debut campaign, while also leading Team GSM to new heights after tasting immense success in Europe.

Greg Aranda, Rider, Team GSM, said: “I’m excited to be returning to the WSX grid for 2024. Last year we were able to piece together a very consistent season, and finishing inside the top 10 every round was vital to our championship performance. Consistency is going to play a massive role again this year, and if we can settle into a good run, we should be able to push for even better results. I’ve achieved a lot with Team GSM already in 2024, and with Lucas [Imbert] alongside me, I think we’ll be able to surprise a lot of people.”

Having joined the French outfit earlier in 2024, Lucas Imbert is a familiar face to everyone at Team GSM already but will be a rookie in WSX this season when he makes his series debut on 26 October at BC Place in Vancouver.

Aged 26, Imbert has already proven his raw talent and speed on two wheels as the 2022 ADAC Supercross SX2 vice-champion, while also placing third in the 2021 French National MX2 Championship and the 2022 French Supercross SX Tour SX2 series.

Imbert enters WSX off the back of an encouraging performance in the French Elite Motocross Championship in 2024 where, as a team-mate to Aranda and despite running part-time, he finished ninth in points, claiming a best result of fourth in Race 2 at Ernée.

Following the WSX Canadian GP on 26 October, the 2024 season will continue on 23-24 November at HBF Park in Perth for the double-header WSX Australian GP. The season will come to an end at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on 4 December.
