Gajser sul podio olandese dopo un GP di Arnhem duramente combattuto

Tim Gajser del Team HRC ha combattuto duramente sulla sabbia di Arnhem, piazzandosi quattro-tre per il terzo posto assoluto e mantenendo la testa della classifica del campionato MXGP 2024. Dopo un quinto posto nella gara di qualificazione, Gajser ha disputato due gare forti e ora si dirige in Svizzera con maggiore sicurezza di essere al livello richiesto per vincere il suo sesto titolo mondiale.
Dopo la pioggia di venerdì e il sole splendente di sabato, il meteo olandese era nuvoloso per la gara di domenica e ha permesso ai piloti di dare il massimo nelle condizioni sabbiose. Avendo la quinta scelta al cancello, lo sloveno non è riuscito a partire così bene in gara uno, ma un buon primo giro gli ha permesso di arrivare quarto quando hanno tagliato il traguardo per la prima volta. Un altro buon sorpasso lo ha portato sul podio, ma dopo aver tenuto un buon ritmo e aver tenuto d’occhio i leader, alla fine ha perso una posizione e ha dovuto accontentarsi del quarto posto.
Motivato a migliorare quel risultato nella seconda gara, Gajser ha avuto un’eccellente partenza sulla sua Honda CRF450R e nel giro di un paio di giri era in testa. Sembrando molto più a suo agio e costante rispetto alla sua ultima uscita sulla sabbia a Lommel, il #243 è stato in grado di guidare per un paio di giri e dimostrare di essere un pilota di punta nella parte smossa. Tuttavia, ha perso il ritmo quando si sono avvicinati ai doppiati e ciò ha permesso a due piloti di passare. Mantenendo il passo con loro per la maggior parte del resto della manche, un piccolo errore ha permesso al pilota quarto classificato di avvicinarsi subito, ma Gajser ha mostrato la sua determinazione a tenerlo a bada e assicurarsi il terzo posto sul podio.
Il team HRC ora si dirige a sud verso Frauenfeld, in Svizzera, per il 17° round della serie, sul circuito stretto e tecnico situato vicino a Zurigo. La serie ha visitato questa pista per la prima volta l’anno scorso, ma Gajser ha saltato quel round, ma in realtà ci ha corso quando era un pilota giovane, diversi anni fa.
MX2
Dopo il ritiro dalla gara di qualificazione di ieri, Ferruccio Zanchi del Team HRC ha fatto due manche piene di sorpassi, concludendo 12-13° e classificandosi 12° in classifica generale, in quella che è stata una sfida davvero dura per il giovane italiano.
Avere l’ultima scelta al cancello lo ha messo in netto svantaggio all’inizio, ma ha sfruttato ogni cavallo della sua Honda CRF250R per mettersi nella posizione migliore possibile alla prima curva. In gara uno, ciò ha significato una partenza tra i primi 15 e in gara due, ha dovuto lottare da appena fuori dai primi 20, ma come ha già dimostrato numerose volte quest’anno, sa davvero abbassare la testa quando serve e superare i piloti in modo costante in entrambe le gare.
Il 12° posto in classifica generale lo ha mantenuto al 10° posto nel campionato MX2 e con solo quattro round rimanenti, sarà ricordato come un’eccellente campagna da principiante se riuscirà a continuare a fare quel genere di giri.
Tim Gajser 243
È stato un weekend solido e ho sicuramente sentito che la mia guida è stata molto migliore questo weekend rispetto a Lommel. È stato un peccato aver commesso un errore nella seconda gara, ma sono contento del resto della manche ed è stato bello ottenere il terzo posto e salire sul podio. Mancano ancora quattro round e sono ancora in testa, quindi non vedo l’ora di andare alla prossima gara in Svizzera e fare un’altra prestazione forte.

Dopo ieri sapevo che sarebbe stata una sfida dura anche solo avvicinarsi alla top 10, quindi arrivare 12-13 per il 12° posto assoluto è il massimo che potessi sperare. Nella seconda manche ho avuto una buona carica e se avessi fatto un altro paio di giri, sono sicuro che avrei potuto arrivare 10°, ma nel complesso ho guidato bene e ho fatto molti sorpassi. Un grande ringraziamento al team per tutto il loro aiuto e ora l’obiettivo è essere pronti per la Svizzera il prossimo weekend.

Sapevamo che sarebbe stato difficile qui nei Paesi Bassi, ma Tim ha guidato molto bene in quella seconda manche e questo ci dà molta fiducia in vista della Svizzera. Sembrava molto più il Tim che conosciamo e ha avuto un weekend molto migliore rispetto a Lommel, quindi possiamo essere contenti e non vediamo l’ora che arrivi il prossimo weekend.
Ferro ha anche fatto un ottimo sforzo nella seconda manche per arrivare fuori dalla top 20 e finire 13°. Ha dimostrato di essere davvero un eccellente pilota sulla sabbia e per un giovane pilota, questa è un’abilità importante da avere quando si gareggia in un campionato mondiale.

Gajser on Dutch podium after hard-fought Arnhem GP

Team HRC’s Tim Gajser battled hard in the Arnhem sand, going four-three for third overall and keeping hold of the 2024 MXGP Championship lead. After a fifth place in yesterday’s qualification race, Gajser put in two strong races and now heads to Switzerland with more confidence that he is at the level required to win his sixth world title.
After rain on Friday, and bright sunshine yesterday, the Dutch weather was cloudy for today’s racing and it allowed the riders to give everything in the sandy conditions. Having fifth gate-pick, the Slovenian wasn’t able to get such a good start in race one, but a good first lap meant he was up to fourth by the time they crossed the line for the first time. Another good pass moved him up into the podium spots but after riding a good pace and keeping the leaders in sight, he eventually dropped a spot and had to settle for fourth.
Motivated to improve upon that result in race two, Gajser got an excellent start on his Honda CRF450R and within a couple of laps was in the lead. Looking much more comfortable and consistent than his last sand-outing in Lommel, the #243 was able to lead for a couple of laps and show that he is a top rider in the loose stuff. However, he did lose his rhythm as they approached the lappers and that allowed two riders to go through. Keeping pace with them for the majority of the rest of the moto, a small error did allow the fourth-place rider to close right in, but Gajser showed his determination to hold him off and make sure he claimed third spot on the podium.
Team HRC now head south to Frauenfeld, Switzerland for the 17th round of the series, on the tight and technical circuit located near to Zurich. The series visited this track for the first time last year, but Gajser missed that round but has actually ridden there when was a youth rider, a number of years ago.
MX2
After a withdrawal from the qualification race yesterday, Team HRC’s Ferruccio Zanchi put in two motos filled with passes as he came through to finish 12-13 for 12th overall, in what was a really tough challenge for the Italian youngster.
Having last gate-pick put him at a massive disadvantage off the start, but he used every horsepower of his Honda CRF250R to put him in as good a position as possible around the first turn. In race one, that meant a top 15 start and in race two, he had to fight through from just outside the top 20, but as he has proved numerous times this year already, he can really put his head down when he needs to and picked off riders consistently throughout both races.
The 12th overall, kept him in 10th place in the MX2 Championship and with just four rounds remaining, it will go down as an excellent rookie campaign if he can keep putting in those sorts of rides.

It was a solid weekend, and I definitely felt like my riding was a lot better this weekend than in Lommel. It was a shame I made a mistake in that second race, but I’m happy with the rest of the moto and it was good to get third place and stand on the podium. We have four rounds still to go and I’m still in the lead so I’m excited to go to the next race in Switzerland and put in another strong performance.

After yesterday I knew it would be a tough challenge to even get near the top 10, so to go 12-13 for 12th overall is about as good as I could have hoped for. In the second moto I had a good charge going and if I had another couple of laps, I’m sure I could have got 10th, but overall, I rode well and made a lot of passes. A big thanks to the team for all their help and now the aim is to be ready for Switzerland next weekend.

We knew it would be difficult here in the Netherlands, but Tim rode really well in that second moto and that gives us a lot of confidence heading into Switzerland. He looked a lot more like the Tim we know, and a much better weekend than in Lommel so that is something we can be happy about and we are looking forward for next weekend already.
Ferro also put in a really good effort in the second moto to come from outside the top 20 to finish 13th. He showed that he really is an excellent sand rider and for a young rider, that is an important skill to have when competing in a world championship.
