Hunter Lawrence farà debuttare in gara la CRF450R del 2025 a Unadilla MX

NEW BERLIN, New York (9 agosto 2024) – Oggi al Media Day per il Round 9 della serie AMA Pro Motocross, il team Honda HRC ha rivelato che Hunter Lawrence farà la gara con la nuovissima CRF450R 2025 durante la gara di domani a Unadilla MX. La nuova moto di prima categoria della Honda ha fatto scalpore nel settore da quando è stata presentata solo due mesi e mezzo fa all’apertura della serie a Pala, California, e ha raccolto recensioni positive dopo il suo lancio stampa il mese scorso (a cui Hunter ha partecipato). Ora la nuova moto, che sta già arrivando nelle concessionarie Honda, farà il suo debutto in gara anticipato nell’Upstate New York.
In genere, i team si attengono ai macchinari dell’anno corrente per tutto l’anno solare. Tuttavia, Hunter e suo fratello/compagno di squadra Jett Lawrence (attualmente fuori gioco per un infortunio al pollice) sono grandi fan della nuova piattaforma da quando hanno guidato un primo prototipo circa due anni fa. La CRF450R 2025 è stata sviluppata in stretta collaborazione con il Team Honda HRC e i fratelli Lawrence, nonché con il Team HRC nel campionato MXGP. Hunter e il suo team sono fiduciosi che la moto sarà competitiva ai massimi livelli fin dall’inizio e il passaggio ora darà loro un vantaggio nella raccolta di dati e nello sviluppo della versione di factory.
“Sono entusiasta di gareggiare con la nuova moto questo fine settimana qui a Unadilla”, ha detto oggi Hunter Lawrence. “Mi sono sentito a casa sulla ’25 la prima volta che l’ho guidata ed è stato divertente per Jett e me avere l’opportunità di dare il nostro contributo nello sviluppo della moto di produzione. Ora è il momento di mettersi al lavoro sulla versione Factory”.
Attualmente, il piano è che Hunter gareggi con la CRF450R 2025 per il resto della serie AMA Pro Motocross e che lui e Jett la utilizzino per la prossima serie SuperMotocross.
“Siamo orgogliosi del successo che l’attuale piattaforma CRF450R ha ottenuto, vincendo tutti e tre i campionati AMA 450 l’anno scorso e proseguendo con la corona AMA Supercross di quest’anno”, ha affermato il responsabile del Team Honda HRC Lars Lindstrom. “Detto questo, siamo super entusiasti di metterci al lavoro per sviluppare la versione factory della CRF450R 2025. Gli ingegneri hanno fatto un lavoro incredibile con la nuova moto e siamo felici di vederla performare bene nelle valutazioni dei media. Hunter è attualmente secondo nella corsa al titolo AMA Pro Motocross 450. Ha ottenuto successi a Unadilla, ottenendo la vittoria assoluta lo scorso anno nella classe 250 e finendo sul podio assoluto nel 2022. Questa sarà la sua prima volta in pista nella classe regina.

Hunter Lawrence to Give ’25 CRF450R its Race Debut at Unadilla MX

NEW BERLIN, New York (August 9, 2024) – Today at Media Day for Round 9 of the AMA Pro Motocross series, Team Honda HRC revealed that Hunter Lawrence will campaign the brand-new 2025 CRF450R during tomorrow’s race at Unadilla MX. Honda’s new premier-class bike has made waves in the industry since it was unveiled just two-and-a-half months ago at the series opener in Pala, California, and it garnered positive reviews following its press launch last month (which Hunter attended). Now the new bike—which is already arriving in Honda dealerships—will get an early race debut in Upstate New York.
Typically, teams stick with current model-year machinery throughout the calendar year. However, Hunter and his brother/teammate Jett Lawrence (currently sidelined with a thumb injury) have been big fans of the new platform since they rode an early prototype nearly two years ago. The 2025 CRF450R was developed in close collaboration with Team Honda HRC and the Lawrence brothers, as well as Team HRC in the MXGP Championship. Hunter and his team are confident that the bike will be competitive at the top level early, and making the switch now will give them a head start on gathering data and developing the factory version.
“I’m pumped to race the new bike this weekend here at Unadilla,” Hunter Lawrence said today. “I felt at home on the ’25 the first time I rode it, and it was fun for Jett and me to have the opportunity to give our input in the development of the production bike. Now it’s time to get to work on the factory version.”
Currently, the plan is for Hunter to race the 2025 CRF450R through the remainder of the AMA Pro Motocross series, and for him and Jett to use it for the upcoming SuperMotocross series.
“We’re proud of the success that the current CRF450R platform has enjoyed, winning all three AMA 450 Championships last year and following up with this year’s AMA Supercross crown,” said Team Honda HRC Manager Lars Lindstrom. “That said, we’re super excited to get to work developing the factory version of the 2025 CRF450R. The engineers have done an incredible job with the new bike, and we’re happy to see it performing well in media evaluations. We fully expect that with time, it will have a very successful record of its own.”
Hunter currently sits second in the AMA Pro Motocross 450 title chase. He has enjoyed success at Unadilla, earning last year’s overall win in the 250 class and finishing on the overall podium in 2022. This will be his first time racing the track in the premier class.
