JEREMY SEEWER SESTO IN GERMANIA
Jeremy Seewer del Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP ha scavato in profondità in condizioni di pioggia per finire sesto nel round tedesco del Campionato mondiale FIM Motocross MXGP a Teutschenthal.
Il pilota svizzero guardava con fiducia all’azione del giorno di gara dopo una corsa impetuosa fino al quinto posto in qualifica, ma ha dovuto affrontare momenti difficili il giorno della gara dopo una prima curva imbarazzante in gara uno e una caduta anticipata in gara due. Nella prima manche è rimasto fedele all’obiettivo, partendo dal quattordicesimo posto e conquistando il nono posto a tre giri dal traguardo con una serie di giri regolari dall’inizio alla fine. La partenza quinta in gara due era di buon auspicio, ma una scivolata al secondo giro è costata cinque posizioni; riorganizzandosi con forza Jeremy ha effettuato una serie di sorpassi impressionanti per risalire al sesto posto al traguardo e assicurarsi anche il sesto posto assoluto nella classifica di giornata e nella classifica a punti.
Jeremy Seewer: “Fortunatamente questo fine settimana non era così fangoso come in Portogallo e Francia, ma non era facile con le condizioni; la pista era diversa in ogni sessione con il tempo che cambiava continuamente: rai, senza pioggia, ed erano sempre fuori lì con il bulldozer. Tutte quelle curve strette hanno reso complicato il set-up; semplicemente non ero soddisfatto della mia prima gara, ma la seconda è stata migliore; Mentalmente è stato frustrante perché normalmente sono molto forte su questo tipo di piste quando il tempo non gioca brutti scherzi, ma questa è la vita.”
Le ambizioni di titolo di Romain Febvre hanno subito una battuta d’arresto quando è stato costretto a ritirarsi dalle corse al secondo giro di gara uno mentre lottava per l’ottavo posto mentre il dolore dovuto all’infortunio al pollice riportato due settimane fa in Francia era diventato insopportabile. La giornata senza reti fa sì che il francese scenda al quarto posto nella classifica a punti, a settantacinque punti dal leader della serie.
Antti Pyrhönen (team manager KRT): “Naturalmente è una grande delusione per tutti – Romain, Kawasaki e il team – per la situazione dopo l’infortunio di Romain nel primo allenamento in Francia. Ha fatto tutto il possibile per realizzarlo e i suoi risultati in Francia e ieri nelle qualifiche hanno dimostrato quanto sia grande il suo cuore, ma ci sono dei limiti e oggi il dolore era semplicemente troppo grande per continuare. Ora dobbiamo sistemare la situazione e tornare ancora più forti che mai.”

JEREMY SEEWER SIXTH IN GERMANY
Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer dug deep in rain-affected conditions to finish sixth in the German round of the FIM World MXGP Motocross Championship at Teutschenthal.
The Swiss rider was looking forward with confidence to race-day action after a storming ride to fifth in Qualifying but he faced a tough time on race day after an awkward first turn in race one and an early fall in race two. He stuck defiantly to the task in the first moto to move forward from fourteenth to clinch his eventual ninth three laps from the finish with a series of regular laps from start to finish. A fifth-placed start in race two augured well, but a slip on lap two cost five positions; regrouping strongly Jeremy made a series of impressive passes to work his way back to sixth at the finish to also secure sixth overall on the day and in the series points-standings.
Jeremy Seewer: “Luckily it wasn’t quite as muddy this weekend as in Portugal and France but it was not easy in the conditions; the track was different every session with the weather continually changing – rai , no rain, and they were always out there with the bulldozer. All those tight corners made it tricky with the set-up; there was no flow. I was simply not satisfied with my first race, but the second was better; it was just a shame I had that small crash. Mentally it was frustrating because I am normally really strong on this type of track when the weather doesn’t play tricks, but that’s life.”
Romain Febvre’s title ambitions suffered a set-back when he was forced to withdraw from racing on the second lap of race one whilst holding a battling eighth as the pain from the thumb injury sustained two weeks ago in France became unbearable. The scoreless day means that the Frenchman drops to fourth in the points standings, seven-five points shy of the series pace-setter.
Antti Pyrhönen (KRT team manager): “Of course it’s a big disappointment for everyone – Romain, Kawasaki and the team – with the situation after Romain’s injury in the first training in France. He tried everything possible to make it happen and his results in France and yesterday in Qualifying showed just what a big heart he has, but there are limits and today the pain was just too great to continue. Now we need to get it sorted and return even stronger than ever.”
